Meet the team
What gets me up in the morning is my passion is to actively engage with people to develop creative and better ways of doing things. Entrepreneurial to the core!
My engineering in aeronautical quality assurance has given me a very practical approach to effective outcomes. With extensive experience in set up and acquisition of businesses, the move to the social sector could have been a big leap. However, with many years of volunteering and family heritage in the social sector, I found I took to it like the proverbial ‘duck to water’.
YMCA Ashford was my first foray of setting up and running a charity, which included a secondment to Department for Education and Skills (DfES) in Westminster, working with government ministers, advising and writing policy. This opened my vision to a national opportunity to drive effective community and statutory sector partnership across the country – all focused on accelerating positive social transformation within communities. In parallel to this, I hold various trustee positions and chair two charities.
PGDip in Training Management and Chartered MCIPD.
My greatest passion is to motivate, build, train, mentor and coach (or do whatever it takes!) for individuals and teams to manage and lead excellent performance across complex, multi-cultural and international environments. I always ensure that the talent development is continuously aligned to the business agenda and larger organisational mandate. I also gained experience in conflict resolution in my role of Europe and Asia Corporate Ombudsperson.
Working with GE gave me extensive experience in project management, continuous improvement methods ie Change Acceleration Process (CAP), Six Sigma.
I know that each situation is unique so I use my skills from professional training and a collaborative management style gained over 30 years predominantly in commercial learning and development in Financial Services across the globe.
I also have an equal passion for social transformation where I have worked with children, young people, family and communities.
My educational background includes Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in Training Management and Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD).
Marketing Design BA (hons).
I think the easiest way I would describe myself is as a connector. I connect people, ideas and solutions in a way that helps their organisations and people to thrive. This all stems from a hybrid set of skills in behaviour change, marketing, design and business development. Consequentially, I have over 20 years working in marketing, design, business and community development.
Over the last 5 years, I have been working alongside central government (Cabinet Office, DWP), local authorities, international travel organisations, national charities and the faith community.
I am very easy going, focused, pragmatic and a lateral thinker. I would easily identify myself as an innovator and entrepreneur.
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and the outdoors.
